Organizers of Gitex Computer Shopper, to be held at Airport Expo Dubai, October 12-18, 2002, stated that this year's edition will have a vast range of Information Technology (IT) products available in the region. In addition, there will again be a Technology Fashion Show.
”Whether it is hardware, software, office equipment, computer accessories or the newest in audio, video and electronic equipment, this event draws crowds looking for deals and access to the newest technological solutions,” said Pankaj Nadkarni, international project manager for Computer Shopper, adding that he anticipates the show will feature more than 200 companies this year.
The 2001 edition attracted 125 IT vendors, representing some 200 companies from 15 countries. It occupied 12,000 square meters of exhibition space and attracted 54,400 visitors during its seven-day duration. Furthermore, more than 30 million Emiati dirhams in retail sales were generated on during the event.
Organised by the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), Gitex Computer Shopper is the retail component of the Gitex tradeshow. Shopper is held at Airport Expo Dubai while the trade event occupies eight halls at the Dubai International Exhibition Center.
There are several Gitex events now being held throughout the region, including Gitex Cairo, held in Egypt, Termium-Gitex Beirut held in Lebanon and Gitex Saudi Arabia held in Riyadh. In addition, Gitex Hyderabad (India) made its debut in January 2002, marking the debut of the Gitex brand outside the Middle East region, it will be held again in the first quarter of 2003. — (menareport.com)
