General Electric Power Systems launched a new gas turbine Service Center in Abu Dhabi Monday, April 8, 2002. The facility will be managed by Gulf Turbine Services, a joint venture between General Electric (GE) and Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (GAMCO) which was established in November 2001 to carry out repairs on GE and non-GE designed gas turbine components in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The facility will be the only authorized service center in the UAE, adding to the service network of Ge-Meelsa, the other authorized service center in this region. Gulf Turbine Services will have access to all GE design technology, repair processes and procedures.

The centre will be capable of making repairs on all static and rotating gas turbine components for gas turbines as large as the 120 megawatt-class MS9001E machine. The shop will also provide service and repair on all types of mechanical and rotating equipment including transformers and switchgear repairs.

Situated in Mussafah Industrial Estate, Abu Dhabi, the facility's location will enable the Center to support customers throughout the UAE and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

GE is a diversified technology, services and manufacturing company operating in more than 100 countries and employing approximately 310,000 people worldwide. GE Power Systems is an international supplier of power generator technology, energy services and management systems with projected 2001 revenues exceeding $20 billion. GE Power Systems provides equipment, service and management solutions across the power generation, oil and gas, distributed power and energy rental industries. — (menareport.com)
