GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) has agreed to design and construct anadvanced jet engine test facility for Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline.
Construction of the 6,000-square meter facility, with a 13-meter cross-section test chamber, is scheduled to begin in Dubai in 2004, with completion targeted for 2006.
The test facility is an indoor jet engine test stand with a data acquisition system and engine “preparation to test” area.
GEAE, a division of the General Electric Company is a manufacturer of jet engines for civil and military aircraft, including engines produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint company of Snecma Moteurs and GE. GEAE also manufactures gas turbines, derived from its jet engine programs, for marine applications. — (menareport.com)
