ALBAWABA - A report from The Information claims that Apple continues to be working on a foldable iPhone, which could be released as early as 2026. According to rumors, the phone will fold horizontally, comparable to the newly released Samsung Galaxy Z Flip clamshell design.
According to The Information, a foldable iPhone has been given a code name, dubbed V68, and is already beyond the design phase, which is an important sign that the iPhone Flip may be in developing progression.
Apple designers reportedly intend to produce two distinct foldable phone sizes. They will have to overcome obstacles like keeping a crease from forming in the middle of the screen due to repeated folding, while also also having to design a particularly thin model so that the increased thickness when folded still fits in a pocket.
The Californian tech giant wants to also deploy newly upgraded camera technology, such as a variable aperture, simultaneously alongside the reinvented iPhone design; users of iPhone cameras would be able to adjust the amount of light and possible detail that the lens collects, producing a more realistic "bokeh" blurred backdrop effect.
Despite reports that the company has been working on folding iPhone concepts since as early as 2019, which since saw the debut of Motorola’s Razr reboot and progression of multiple generations of Samsung foldables, it is unclear what has prevented Apple from launching a folding iPhone in the last several years.
