First Calgary Petroleums reported that drilling operations at its MLE-2 well in Algeria have encountered significant hydrocarbon saturated reservoir quality sands in all anticipated target zones. The well is currently drilling at a depth of approximately 4250 meters with a revised projected total depth (TD) of 4380 meters.
All potential pay zones are structurally high, as predicted based on 3D seismic interpretation, to the offset MLE-1 discovery. The penetration rates being experienced are typical for a well of this depth in the Berkine Basin resulting in an expected TD of December 28. After a detailed logging evaluation program upon reaching TD, an extensive production testing program is planned for all prospective zones.
The MLE-2 well is located on First Calgary Petroleums’ fully owned Ledjmet Block 405b. The well is located 2.5 kilometers updip from the MLE-1 well which yielded through a production test, 43 million cubic feet per day of gas and 1745 barrels per day of condensate from three zones. — (menareport.com)
