European stocks close higher with the exception of Italy

European stock exchanges closed higher Monday, except in Italy.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was up 0.95 points, or 0.18%, to close at 523.89.

The UK’s FTSE 100 rose almost four points, or 0.05%, to finish at 8,424.

Germany’s DAX and France’s CAC 40 were the best performers of the day, adding 64 and 28 points to reach 18,768 and 8,195, respectively. They both rose 0.35% each.

Spain’s IBEX 35, meanwhile, climbed 11 points, or 0.1%, to close the first trading day of the week at 11,339.

Italy’s FTSE MIB, on the other hand, plummeted 573 points, or 1.62%, to 34,825 at the final bell.
