Emirates Post and Somal Post, the national postal corporation of Somalia, have signed an agreement to handle money transfer, letters and parcels between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Somalia.
The new postal services between the two countries, which will be available from July 1, , at 72 post offices of Emirates Post, will meet the requirements of the 75,000 Somalis residing in the UAE. The agreement envisages delivery of mail to the major Somali cities of Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Bossano and Galkayo.
The Emirates Post's mail transit hub at Dubai airport will be used to dispatch mail bound for Somalia, as well as forward mail originating from Somalia to the UK, Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Canada and UAE.
Emirates Post was established in 2001, converting the General Postal Authority into Emirates Post Corporation. It has since become one of the most dynamic Federal organizations, delivering high-standard services to customers, by functioning as a commercial enterprise. — (menareport.com)
