To help improve internal processes and staff efficiency within the health service in Ras Al-Khaimah, Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM) will tomorrow hold a seminar for over 150 doctors and nurses in the region. To be held at the Etisalat branch in Ras Al-Khaimah, EIM, the Internet business unit of Etisalat, will present an informative session to highlight how the Internet can improve many of the day-to-day functions of the Emirate’s medical professionals.
Launched in March 2000, EIM is the Internet service provider arm of Etisalat. Today the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has more than one million users; placing the country in the top 20 most Internet wired countries in the world. — (menareport.com)
The seminar will provide an introduction to the Net and highlight how it can be used above and beyond simply browsing for information. A short history of its development will be given, followed by a look at specific applications that will benefit health workers.
“The aim of this session is to help bring our medical professionals up-to-date with developments in communication on the Web,” commented Mohammed Sultan Al-Qadi, General Manager of Etisalat, Rais Al-Khama. “Technology is affecting every part of this profession and the Internet is an integral part of these changes.”
EIM is conducting the session as an integral service to the medical community. The initiative follows a series of similar seminars given to various educational districts throughout the country in 2002, where teachers were given an overview of how the Internet can aid the learning process and benefit students.
