The Egyptian Agricultural and Economic parliamentary committees decided to hold a meeting to discuss the government’s export plan for cotton for the spring season. Egyptian cotton exports encounter illegal competition by an American cotton brand know as “Yuppy.” The committee will try to find appropriate methods to cope with the competition, reported Al-Bayan.
The committee will urge the Minister of Foreign Commerce, Mr. Youssuf Botrous Ghali, to present a new cotton export plan to the parliament. The United States has recently decided to support its cotton production and allocated $10 million for its development. This enhances the competitiveness of the American cotton over the Egyptian cotton. — (menareport.com)
