Egypt's Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi has recently denied reports on a shortage of diesel fuel. "The petroleum sector is capable of maintaining adequate supplies of diesel," Fahmi said. "Diesel fuel is being produced in sufficient quantity to meet local demand for 15 days, Fahmi added, according to local press reports.

According to him, the Ministry is studying plans for a new diesel pipeline as part of next year's budget plan.

Egypt produces 8.6 million tons of diesel per annum to supply increasing demand in industry and agriculture, he said, adding that the government has kept the price at 40 piasters a litre for almost 12 years. (menareport.com)
