Five bilateral trade agreements were recently signed in a bid to boost exports from Egypt to Germany. Under the agreements, a new company will be established with the sole purpose of promoting the sale of Egyptian goods on German markets, according to Business Today.
The two countries have also agreed to share market expertise in environmental issues, construction, technology and particularly in the area of food industries.
Exports from Egypt to Germany stood at one billion Egyptian pounds ($234.7) in 2000. This reflects a 17.5 percent rise compared with 850.95 million Egyptian pounds ($199.6 million) during the previous year. German imports to Egypt dropped by EP 1.28 million, to EP 5.67 billion in 2000, from 6.95 billion in 1999, reflecting an 18 percent fall. — (Mena Report)
