Egypt’s first BOT airport opens

A first Egyptian airport operated based on the BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) system on opened October 2, receiving its first flight, reported Al-Bayan.  

 

The construction of first phase of the new Marsa Aalam Airport was completed running 160 million Egyptian pound costs. In addition, all required navigation, landing, take off and control equipment and technologies were installed.  

 

Planned to boost tourist movement, the new airport is located 60 kilometer from Marsa Alam city and 200 kilometer from Hurghada. In the first phase, the airport facilities are capable of handling 600 passengers per hour. After completing all project phases, the airport will be able to handle 2,000 passengers per hour. — (Mena Report)
