The Economist Corporate Network briefing brings together a panel of senior managers with hands-on experience in implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies on September 30, 2003 at the Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai to discuss the relevance of CSR for business operations in the Middle East.
CSR has become a buzzword in Europe and the North America. Most major companies have developed CSR principles and hired CSR directors who are now pressuring regional and country managers to put their fine words into action.
Meth-Cohn will open the briefing by looking at what CSR means for managers in emerging markets before handing over to Simon Bryceson of First & 42nd, who has advised dozens of major multinationals on their CSR policies.
The focus of the briefing will then shift to case studies, starting with BAT, a tobacco company which embraced CSR as a way of addressing public controversy over its product head on. Senior executives from a variety of different sectors will then look at how they plan to translate global corporate CSR policies into concrete initiatives in the Middle East.
Economist Corporate Network is a series of regional business groups that enable senior executives to monitor and anticipate critical business developments through timely insights and analysis from The Economist Group. Members profit from a network of data, experts and peers. — (menareport.com)
