Dubai Techno Park: Gulf Food Industries to set up new facilities for food processing and manufacturing

Dubai Techno Park, has recently signed Gulf Food Industries - California Garden (GFI) to establish new facilities for food processing and manufacturing in the zone.

 

Under the terms of the agreement, GFI (a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuwait Food Company "Americana"), will invest DHS 150 million in the first Phase , and DHS 100 in each of the remaining two phases to establish three new factories for FMCG Food Products increasing its production and processing capacity of  canned, frozen and dry  Foods.

 

Commenting on the agreement Abdullah Al Qurashi, Chief Executive Officer, Techno Park said, "Dubai Techno Park is expanding at a rapid pace to accommodate a wide variety of industries attracting some of biggest names in the region to its portfolio. Dubai Techno Park has accorded the food processing and packaging industry strategic status. The partnership with GFI cements the
vital nature of the industry to the region as we aim to be the prime movers, facilitating the growth of the industry in the region."

 

"GFI with its expertise in the regional markets, has certainly added value to Dubai Techno Park and their presence in the zone will enhance our position as the leading centre for the food processing, packaging and shipping in the region," added Al Qurashi.

 

The new factories will enable the expansion of GFI food product lines by creating dedicated facilities for meat processing, confectionary and canned foods like, milk products, beans and tomato based sauces and products. Engineer Ziad Abdel Rahim, General Manager, Gulf Food Industries - California Garden said, "The new facilities being developed in the Techno Park has come about due to the outstanding services that are offered at the zone and its imminent growth into the Middle East region's hub for high technology."


The endorsement of Government of Dubai as well as many private and semi-private organisations in Dubai has been a key investment driver as was the importance given to the food processing and packaging industry by the zone significantly easing the investment decision making process."

 

Dubai Techno Park is the first technology park of its kind in the Middle East being developed as a hub for industry and hi-tech manufacturing for local and GCC companies. Several major companies and multinationals have already indicated strong interest in setting up facilities at the Techno Park as the zone provides superior infrastructure, single-window clearance and other added incentives.
