ALBAWABA - Social media users have been making loads of conspiracy theories about the death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, who died of a "sudden illness" today, according to a statement by his office.

Graham, who is known for being a close ally of President Donald Trump, died Saturday, as confirmed by his office. The statement read, "On the evening of Saturday, July 11, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham passed away from a brief and sudden illness. Senator Graham's family appreciates prayers at this time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period."

Zelenskyy curse? Lindsey Graham's death sparks theories

Since the announcement of his death, many theories have been made online, including one linking his death with the famous "Zelenskyy curse".

Lindsey Graham landed in Kyiv, where he met with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and it was his last public appearance before his death. Zelenskyy briefed the Senator on Russia's constant attacks and the urgent need for additional anti-ballistic missiles.

In return, Graham praised the courage of the Ukrainian people and reaffirmed Congress's continued support for Ukraine.

One wrote on X, "Who killed Lindsey Graham: Iran or Putin? He was just fine meeting Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday in Kyiv. Sudden illness?"

What is the Zelenskyy Curse?

The Zelenskyy curse is not something new. Social media users have been mocking President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming anyone who meets him is chased by a certain curse.

According to activists, several officials who met with Zelenskyy have either left or lost their jobs, including UK Prime Ministers Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson, as well as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Joe Biden also announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential elections in November, days after meeting with the Ukrainian leader.
