Middle East provider of information technology (IT) products and logistics management Tech Data has confirmed that Dubai’s position as the Middle East’s technology hub is driving growth and development at a regional level. According to the company, the distribution market for 2002 has reached $850 million in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) alone, with an expected growth of 17 percent for 2003.
The advanced maturity of Dubai’s market is demonstrated by the movement towards delivering ‘value added’ services through the distribution network that services the people that buy information technology throughout the region, stated Managing Director of Tech Data, Steve Lockie.
For the last two years, Tech Data has been extending value added services support to the regional reseller market, aiming at driving expanding the revenue opportunities in the market and moving the channel away from price based competition.
Founded in 1974, the Tech Data Corporation serves more than 100,000 technology resellers in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.
