Dubai International Airport achieved a Category 10 ICAO rating for its fire safety services. The rating comes into effect from September 1, 2003. The Department of Civil Aviation has invested 16 million Emirati dirhams in the last three years to obtain the Category 10 rating.
The investments include five new Rosenbauer fire tenders, an upgraded control room with a touch screen alarm monitoring system and an ultra-high pressure fire fighting system. Currently there are three fire stations located at Dubai International Airport. This is expected to go up to five by the year 2006. — (menareport.com)
