The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM)’s aggressive marketing and promotional initiatives towards attracting more business and leisure visitors have yeilded impressive results with the hotels and hotel apartments in the emirate reporting good business almost all through the year, stated a department press release.
The market trends were recently revealed to the senior DTCM officials at the sixth meeting of the Hotel and Hotel Apartment Group held at the Mina A' Salam Hotel in Dubai. The consultative panel of the emirate's booming hospitality industry comprised of 18 representatives from the hotel and hotel apartments in the emirate. This was the last meeting of the group for the year 2003.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the DTCM Director General Khalid A Bin Sulayem. It was also attended by DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis Bin Hareb.
Members of the group briefed the meeting about the market trends and the future growth prospects. They said the hotel establishments generated good business in the recent months, including the Holy Month of Ramadan, and that there has been significant increase in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) enquiries and familiarization trips to the emirate.
“Business in general was good due to the DTCM's initiatives and activities. Dubai has been visible in all the events. The city hotels had a big flow of guests from the AGCC markets,” the group members unanimously remarked.
The latest initiatives from the Dubai Convention Bureau, the inclusion of new exhibitions for the overseas promotions, and the global advertising campaign, were also revealed. A wide range of issues faced by the hotel establishments in the Emirate were brought to the notice of the DTCM officials for taking up with other government organizations.
The next meeting DTCM meeting, with the new members on board, will be held in the first week of January, 2004. — (menareport.com)
