The emirate of Dubai will host the “Chemtex” Middle Eastern exhibition between September 4th and 6th, which will be participated by several international petrochemical and chemical companies.
A Web site created especially for this fair, named “Chem e-trade”, has been launched, enabling the companies to execute deals directly through the Internet.
The chemical and petrochemical imports of the Arabian Gulf states amounts to $15 billion per annum, with the Emirates’ share reaching $1.5 billion annually.
Results of a recent market survey, reported in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily, predict that the total investment in the Middle East chemical industry will reach $33 billion by the end of 2000. The same study estimates the growth rate of this industry at 10-15 percent. This region plays a key-role in the global chemical industry.
