Factories in Dubai's food and beverage manufacturing sector recorded sales of three billion Emirati dirhams ($816.7 million) in 2001, according to figures released by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). Compared with 2000, total sales last year grew by 4.4 percent.
Around 50 food and beverage industry executives attended the first meeting of a new business group dedicated to the sector. The aim of the new group is to represent and articulate member interests more effectively with the support and legal backing of DCCI.
