Dubai Duty Free reported record daily sales of 4.9 million Emirati dirhams ($1.4 million) on October 10. The record surpasses that set on December 20 last year when sales reached Dh 4.74 million.
With average daily sales for October running at Dh 3.95 million, the final figure for the month is expected to surpass the previous monthly record of Dh 114 million set in July this year.
The sales target is certainly on track with third quarter figures reaching Dh 929 million, representing a 20 percent increase over the same period last year. The month of September itself provided retailing highs with sales in Sheikh Rashid Terminal up 27 percent over last year, while Terminal 2 sales were 25 percent above and Arrival sales were 36 percent above 2002 figures.
Dubai Duty Free has grown to become the fifth largest airport retailer in the world in terms of turnover after London Heathrow, Singapore, Amsterdam and Paris. — (menareport.com)
