The Aviation Club, Dubai’s number one place for fitness, leisure, dining and entertainment, has announced the appointment of three new team members for The Irish Village and the leisure club.
Irishman, Richard O’Neill, joins The Irish Village as manager where he will oversee a team of 42 staff. Born in Clifden Country Galway, O’Neill started his career as a chef before branching into bar service and then management, where he worked in native Ireland, England, Jersey and Canada. He moved to Dubai over a year ago to work for The Irish Village.
Meanwhile, The Aviation Club welcomes British-born Tony Howett and Grant Cartin as fitness instructors where they bring their expertise in personal training programmes, weight management, nutrition and injury rehabilitation to Dubai.
“Our service culture is our number one priority, and something The Aviation Club is known for – which is why we invest in the right people. Richard’s appointment will add a new dimension to The Irish Village, while Tony and Gavin will certainly help boost our fitness offering,” said Gerard Kearney, General Manager of The Aviation Club.”
Formerly at the prestigious Park Health Club in Central London, Howett is also a keen boxer and holds the American College of Sports Science and Medicine Certification, a gold standard in fitness training. Cartin was personal trainer and sports massage therapist for the former European heavyweight wrestling champion and TV celebrity - ‘Flatliner’ - while also the weight trainer for Portsmouth premiership football club.
The Aviation Club, which includes The Cellar - recently voted the most popular restaurant, and the award-winning watering hole The Irish Village, as well as the quaint restaurant complex Century Village - is centrally located in the Garhoud area of Dubai in close proximity to the airport.
