In view of the growing significance of the meeting, incentive convention and exhibition (MICE) market and the potential for progress, the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has set up a committee to recommend short-term strategies for the development of the sector, reported a press release.

The decision was taken at a recently held meeting attended by senior public and private sector officials including representatives from the DTCM and Dubai World Trade Center. To focus on the MICE market and attract more business for Dubai, the DTCM will produce a market specific brochure that will be officially released at the European Incentive and Business Travel Meetings (EIBTM) exhibition in Geneva. A website providing detailed information about the MICE sector will also be developed and launched during EIBTM.

DTCM Director of Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis Bin Hareb remarked that the DTCM's office in Japan had stepped up its promotional activities in the Japanese market targeting the travel trade in particular in view of Emirates plans to introduce a direct flight to Osaka from October this year. — (menareport.com)
