The Global Village, the biggest crowd-puller during the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), was unveiled this week at a new site in the Dubai Festival City, featuring 28 country pavilions, 44 restaurants, a fun fair and a host of new facilities.
Dubai Festival City, a Key Sponsor of the one-month DSF 2002, opening March 1, 2002, is hosting the Global Village by focusing on a new layout and easy access, following research conducted by the Abdullah Al-Futtaim Investments Group with the help of international consultants.
The Global Village showcases the indigenous products and cultures from dozens of participating countries. Among the expanded facilities at the Global Village are a parking lot for 10,500 cars, a three-fold increase over last year, and a main stage that can accommodate 6,000 people, including seating for 3,000.
The new location offers an area of 147,000 square meters, nearly double that of last year’s, within the 1,200 acre site along four kilometers of Dubai Creek.
The number of country pavilions this year has increased to 28 from last year's 25. The Food Court will have 44 restaurants. In addition, there will be 60 kiosks selling all kinds of handicrafts and souvenirs. — (menareport.com)
