ALBAWABA – A Tesla Cybertruck, a battery electric pickup truck built by Tesla since 2023, exploded in Los Angeles in front of Trump hotel and killed one driver.
Tesla Cybertruck explosion
One person was killed and seven others injured in a Tesla Cybertruck explosion in front of Trump hotel in Los Angeles. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) started investigation the incident and whether it may be linked to an act of terrorism.
Notably, this incident occurred just a few hours after an attack in New Orleans, where a man drove his vehicle into a crowd and killed 15 people.
The exploded Tesla Cybertruck killed the driver of the vehicle and injured seven people who were present in front of Trump’s hotel in Los Angeles.
Kevin McMahill, Sheriff of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, stated: "Obviously a Cybertruck, the Trump hotel - there's lots of questions that we have to answer.”
"I know everybody's interested in that word, and trying to see if we can say, 'Hey, this is a terrorist attack.' That is our goal, and that's what we're trying to do," said FBI special agent in charge Jeremy Schwartz.
Elon Musk, the famous businessman known for his key roles in the space company SpaceX and the automotive company Tesla, said the incidents does not relate with the Tesla Cybertruck precisely.
Musk commented on an X post: "We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion."
According to official resources, the Tesla Cybertruck was rented by the driver who was found dead from Turo, car-sharing service.
"We are actively partnering with law enforcement authorities as they investigate both incidents," A Turo spokesperson said. Following the incident, the Trump Hotel was evacuated and the visitors were moved to another hotel.
No further details have been provided at this time, but some sources are linking the incident to Donald Trump, the owner of the Trump Hotel, and Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla. It is worth noting that President-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated on January 20, 2025, and Musk has been a strong supporter of Trump and his presidential plans.
