ALBAWABA - Damascus International Airport announced the resumption of international flights to and from Syria starting January 7th. The complete rehabilitation of both Aleppo and Damascus airports is currently underway.
Syria resumes international flights
Ashhad al-Salibi, the head of the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport, announced that Damascus International Airport will resume international flights from and to Syria on January 7th.
"We announce we will start receiving international flights to and from Damascus International Airport from. We reassure Arab and international airlines that we have begun the phase of rehabilitating the Aleppo and Damascus airports with our partners' help, so that they can welcome flights from all over the world,” Salibi stated.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Syrian state-owned news agency, Damascus International Airport was evacuated on December 8 and all flights were halted amid the Assad regime last month.
Furthermore, foreign diplomatic delegations, aid shipments, and domestic flights have already resumed. Notably, Qatar Airways announced last week the resumption of its flights to Syria for the first time in 13 years.
Qatar has also offered to provide Syria with the necessary assistance to resume operations at Damascus International Airport.
