Syrian press sources have recently revealed instances of embezzlement and corruption within the Cooperative Agricultural Bank in the country’s northeastern Qahtaniya region, according to Al-Watan daily.

The same sources added that 8,000 tons of fertilizers, valued at 12 million Syrian pounds (two million pounds), were missing from the bank’s warehouses.

The warehouse manager, who was appointed to his position only months ago, is the key suspect in the case. Earlier investigations also uncovered financial violations, including falsified stocks and loans documents, amounting to SP 137 million. ― (MENA Report)
