The Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD), one of the earliest United Arab Emirates (UAE) banks to establish an online presence, has recently re-launched its website. The move comes at a time when the Bank is in the process of completing an internal implementation of a state of the art core banking system that creates a fully integrated bank infrastructure.

The newly revamped site provides visitors with up to date information on the bank's products and services, including details on it's retail and commercial banking services, branch locations as well as information on latest promotional activities by the bank.

In addition, the site provides the latest community news headlines and facilitates the online payment of utility bills as well as access to a number of official forms, previously only accessible by physically visiting the bank.

According to Assistant General Manager of Systems and Operations at the Bank, Mahmoud Hadi, the launch of the site is part of an overall plan for a phased expansion of Internet banking services targeting the region's growing number of online bank users.

CBD was established in 1969, as a Public Shareholding Company. It offers its customers a full range of retail and commercial banking services with a network of 16 branches and four cash offices throughout the UAE. In 2001, CBD reported a net profit of 216.4 million Emirati dirhams ($58 million) with a return on equity of 15.8 percent and total assets of Dh 7.35 million. — (menareport.com)
