Cisco, the American IT giant, is expected to affirm its solid commitment to the Egyptian IT and telecommunication sectors.

Next week, the Egyptian telecom and information Ministry is expected to sign an agreement with the U.S.-based company for the establishment of a new Cisco academy in Cairo, Al-Ahram Daily reported. Under the deal's conditions, the new academy will train approximately 1,000 Egyptians per annum on management and operation of telecommunication networks.

Egyptian Telecom and Information Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nadheef, announced that this accord is the first of its kind in both the Arab World and Africa. Additionally, he stated that the treaty was largely made possible because of the recent and productive visit of President Hosni Mubarak to the United States.
