ALBAWABA – A recent report published by the Wall Street Journal revealed that cats and dogs are inheriting millions of dollars in the US over the past few years. The report explained that many Americans, particularly those without children, are leaving their money to their pets.

The Wall Street Journal’s report also indicated that even Americans with children are dedicating a portion of their wealth to their pets after they are gone.
The Star Trek heiress
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, the wife of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, wants to give her dogs around $4 million of her fortune when she passes away. She also stated that her dogs would be allowed to live on her estate for the rest of their lives.

It is also worth mentioning that Gail Posner, a former producer known for The Gospel of Lou, also left approximately $3 million for her three dogs to inherit after her death, along with the right to live in her mansion for the rest of their lives.
Recent reports showed that pets in the United States are considered part of the family by many people, especially those who do not have children. A recent analysis published in July 2024 by the Pew Research Center, a nonpartisan American think tank, showed that 20% of American adults over the age of 50 have no children.
