Sixty public and private sector organizations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are expected to participate in the second annual Careers UAE exhibition, which opens on Monday, December 24, and runs until Thursday, December 27 at Airport Expo Dubai.

The exhibition, which will occupy 1,050 square meters, is also aimed at supporting companies eager to implement Emiratisation policies in their workforce. It is organized by the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), in conjunction with representatives from the Higher Colleges of Technology and the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (TANMIA).

“We are delighted with the support and commitment both the HCT and TANMIA have offered to ensure the success of this annual event. Working in collaboration with such influential forces that play a key role in the Emiratisation process has enabled us to attract the support of a wider range of organizations. While the public sector has significant representation at this year’s event, we are also pleased with the increased interest we’ve witnessed from the private sector. The banking and financial sector is exceptionally well represented and participation of organizations from the IT and hospitality sectors has also increased this year,” said DWTC Assistant General Manager Ibrahim Al-Hashemi, at a press conference.

“This is an important career fair because it helps link UAE students and jobseekers with potential employers. The Government’s full-fledged commitment to the Emiratization of the workforce sets organization’s operating in the UAE on the brink of a new era of Human Resource management. This event will help them understand the implications and enable them to fully support the ideals of this important mission,” said Howard Reed, director of the Dubai Women’s College. The Dubai Women’s College is one of several HCT colleges operating in the UAE, committed to providing post-secondary education to UAE Nationals.

Abdulla Al-Marzouqi, director of TANMIA’s Employment Division, said the exhibition provides a great opportunity for all stakeholders in the Emiratization process to share information and work in unity to increase the representation of Nationals in the UAE’s workforce. “In our role as a catalyst, we are pleased to have an opportunity to help prospective employers recognize the benefits and advantages of working in partnership to provide UAE nationals with rewarding and fulfilling career options. There is a need to help bridge understanding among all the parties involved in the process and this forum provides us with a great opportunity to showcase our talent in performing that task,” said Al-Marzouqi adding that TANMIA representatives will be available to offer advise on a range of issues and approaches that will help organization’s maximize benefits from supporting Emiratization.

TANMIA is organizing a Career Guidance & Career Development Conference to be held in conjunction with the exhibition. The conference will be held from December 26 and involves some 60 organizations.

Careers UAE made its debut in November 2000, the first edition of the exhibition attracted more than 9,000 students from the UAE’s universities and colleges, graduates and professionals seeking new job opportunities. The show this year will feature sponsored workshops, presentations, discussion groups and industry panels, giving the exhibitors more opportunities to target their message to visiting students and graduates. — (menareport.com)
