On Thursday, August 23, the market got off to a slow start, with most active shares opening slightly lower than the previous day’s close. However, heavier demand gradually emerged later in the day, and continued throughout the session driving most market favorites to end the day in the black.

PAMI index performance proved to reflect the day’s activities, with the index opening near to its previous day close, managing to appreciate 1.73 percent to a high of 6,157 points, before a minor profit taking wave drove it to close lower at 6,097, up 0.75 percent over Wednesday. The telecom sector performed modestly, with both MobiNil and Orascom Telecom ending the session 0.04 percent and 0.85 percent higher, respectively.

Financial leader, CIB managed to outperform the market gaining 2.03 percent, to end the session at LE36.1. Meanwhile, construction giant OCI, appeared to buck the upward trend and headed south, ending the session almost 1 percent down. Elsewhere, Media Productions topped the volumes, while gaining 4.3 percent to close at LE9.66.
