As BUPA Middle East prepares for the forthcoming cooperative health insurance scheme, the health insurance company is increasing recruitment of Saudi nationals to add to the already high percentage of Saudization that has reached 32 percent, of which approximately half has been achieved through employing females.

"In compliance with Saudi labor law a completely separate department has been created for females in order to ensure their comfort and privacy," said Managing Director for BUPA Middle East, David Maltby. "The female department mainly involves data-inputting and those customer services that do not require direct contact with customers. For this purpose, sales and other such positions will continue to be filled by men. However, this does not mean that the training we give to females is compromised. BUPA Middle East has set aside a substantial budget for a comprehensive employee training program that will ensure higher efficiency and improved services for our client base."

Even though there is a steady increase in the number of Saudi females joining the local work force, they continue to be a largely untapped resource that BUPA Middle East has decided to draw on. The company has invested large resources to establish and develop the female department in preparation for the additional business that will result from the new cooperative insurance scheme.

BUPA Middle East, which operates through ASAS Healthcare, a Nazer Group subsidiary, is part of BUPA UK, Britain's largest private health insurance company serving six million members world wide through an extensive network of hospitals.

The company's annual turnover which exceeds three billion dollars also owns and manages 39 hospitals in the UK and across Europe, 248 care homes, 33 health screening centers and 220 approved health clubs throughout the UK, 25 health way clinics in Singapore and specialized centers in Malaysia and China. — (menareport.com)
