ALBAWABA - The closure of the Strait of Hormuz by the Iranian army has affected the prices of major commodities, including oil, which jumped to over $100 per barrel. However, the Strait's shutdown is expected to affect the beauty field as well.
Because beauty also matters despite war, a cosmetic doctor in Jordan posted on social media saying that prices of Botox and fillers are expected to increase if the war between Israel, the U.S. and Iran is prolonged.
In a post on his Instagram account, Jordanian doctor Zaid Samkari mentioned that prices of Botox and fillers are expected to double in the coming period due to the shortage of supply and low shipping.
How are beauty products affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz?
He wrote, "Wars no longer only affect oil and wheat... but even Botox and fillers. If the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz continues until April, prices could double due to shipping and supply disruptions. Therefore, some clinics have begun strategic stockpiling. It seems beauty also has a food security advantage."
Al-Samkari explained, "If the war continues until April, the prices of Botox and fillers could double, not because of shortages, but because of supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz."
He further added that the reason behind the increase in such products is that oil prices are rising, causing a jump in shipping costs globally, and many products pass through the Gulf, not all of them from Europe.
