Canadian business jet manufacturer Bombardier on Wednesday, November 7 announced it will set up with two partners an $11 million service facility for executive jet aircraft in Dubai. The announcement was made during the Dubai air show, in the United Arab Emirates, by Bombardier, ExecuJet Aviation Group of Switzerland, and the Dubai-based Alpha 55 company.

ExecuJet managing director Niall Olver said the facility, the first of its kind in the Gulf region, will open next summer in the Dubai airport area, but he refused to disclose the partners' stakes in the project.

ExecuJet on Monday ordered five of Bombardier's $33 million latest model, the Global 5000. On Monday Emirates airline and Canada's CAE announced the launch of a $100 million Gulfstream business jet flight training center in Dubai that will be operational by early 2003.

Dubai airport handled 1,500 business jet flights last year. The Dubai Air Show, which opened on Sunday, is the first major gathering of the industry since the September 11 terror attacks. It will close Thursday. — (AFP, Dubai)
