BenQ – a digital lifestyle device provider for the display, storage, imaging, wireless, and broadband areas recently announced the expansion of its operations in Kuwait, as well as its forecast for the country's sales to grow by more than 100 percent in the year 2002.
Formerly Acer Communications & Multimedia, BenQ operates under a non-Acer management team. BenQ's authorized distributor in Kuwait is Al-Sarraf Computer Services Company.
“The Kuwait market for digital lifestyle products – digital cameras, plasma displays, LCD monitor, CRT monitor, projectors, DVD-ROMs and CD-RW drives, and mobile telephones – is absolutely enormous and growing significantly each year. Kuwaiti users of technology are demanding that their products be digitally compatible and that they be easy to use, and this niche is where BenQ really has something to offer the market here in Kuwait City,” said regional managing director of Benq, Robert Dung.
“BenQ Middle East has enjoyed strong sales in 2001, and we expect to surpass $100 million in sales for the year 2002. We expect to see our largest growth area in the display products sector, with storage unit products following closely behind, and Kuwait should continue to be one of our biggest markets,” added Dung.
The BenQ products are divided into six primary business units: display, digital display, optical storage, imaging, wireless and broadband and input products. In the region, BenQ has offices in Dubai, Tehran, and has plans to open an office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, South Africa, and Turkey. In addition, the company has 4,000 authorized regional resellers. — (menareport.com)
