Prince Philip of Belgium arrived in Morocco on Sunday, September 9, on a five-day visit designed to strengthen economic ties between the two countries. The prince is accompanied by a 100-strong economic delegation, which is expected to sign a number of treaties with the Moroccan government and the General Confederation of Business in Morocco (CGEM).

At the same time as the royal visit, the European Investment Bank and Morocco are due to sign a €50-million ($45 million) deal paving the way for a four year project providing drinking water in urban and rural zones in Morocco.

The prince oversaw the signing on Sunday of a €100-million investment deal between Moroccan company Saham and Belgian firm Thomas and Piron in the construction sector, officials here said. — (AFP, Rabat)
