Company Press Release:
Avaya (Lucent Technology) will provide the gigabit-cabling infrastructure for Dubai Internet City (DIC) making it the world’s largest installation of small form facto fibre optic connectors. The cabling which will be supplied by Avaya (Lucent Technology) distributor Anixter and installed by Seven Seas Computers, will give end to end throughput to Category 6 standards.
This will offer the new city’s residents connectivity throughout the buildings, campuses, and metro area and to the Internet, all with gigabit capacity.
“The first requirement for operating e-businesses targeting intercontinental markets is to have the best possible local communications”, said Mr. Ahmed Bin Bayat the Executive Manager of Dubai Internet City. “The high-speed network infrastructure in Dubai Internet City will be a platform for successful business via the global network”, he added.
The giga-speed solution, now being installed within and between seven buildings, includes zone wiring and fiber to the desk. The 34 communications rooms across the site house Avaya’s latest VisiPatch patching hardware, designed to reduce space requirements and make re-patching quicker and easier.
Combined with the use of other matched cabling components from a single source, VisiPatch will also help minimize network downtime. This is essential to the 24 hour, seven day a week operation of the Internet City.

The Internet City will have a research and development center for new technology initiatives and a state of the art Science and technology Park. Venture capital and business incubators will also be available.
