It is no secret that people hesitate to purchase products over the Internet. One reason for this is the hefty transportation costs that are sometimes higher than the price of the product itself. Additionally, many consumers are not comfortable with the long period they must wait before receiving their product. In order to boost e-commerce activity among on-line users in the Middle East, Aramex, the international express and freight forwarding company specializing in the Middle East and Indian Sub-Continent regions, has launched a new service called Shop n Ship.
This express service offers the online user an official postal address in the USA, where purchases may be shipped. Aramex will then ship the contents of the purchaser's mailbox and deliver them, regardless of the client's place of residence.
Iyad Kamal, Aramex Express Service Department Manager, stated that the Shop n Ship service simplifies delivery measures and cuts the costs and the wait period for the purchaser. The Shop n Ship service also allows its clients to order merchandise from websites that do not deliver outside the United States. The annual fee for subscribers is estimated at $75, al Anwar daily reports. In its first stage, this new service will be introduced in selected Arab states and in its second stage it will be available to the entire Middle Eastern Region.
Shop n Ship is the second of its kind in the e-commerce field introduced by Aramex in recent years. In 1996, this freight forwarding company introduced the Shop the World Direct Service. This was the first service in the Middle Eastern region that allowed purchasing through catalogs and is now available in 8 different countries. Additionally, Aramex has formed a strategic global alliance with the American based Airborne Express, an international express delivery and freight forwarding company. This Aramex-Airborne global alliance system is active in more than 250 countries.
