The Arab world’s first-ever all Internet bank is expected to become operational during the first quarter of 2001, reports DIT.net. The bank, whose name has yet to be announced, will feature Hewlett-Packard's Financial Services Industry (FSI) division’s Nimius e-banking solution.
According to DIT.net, Nimius is a personalized e-banking platform, which provides asset information, e-brokerage, e-payment and funds transfer.
It comprises the powerful BEA WebLogic personalization tool; HP's OpenView application and management software; the Praesidium VirtualVault, which is a HP-UX security transaction server that sits between the Internet and the enterprise applications; as well as consultancy and system integration.
Nimius was launched for the first time in Switzerland two years ago, and today is used by 10 European banks.
Currently, the applications within Nimius is being adapted to meet the needs of the Arab user. According to Patrick Hayati, the Middle East regional director of FSI, localizing the applications is expected to take no longer than two months. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
