The Arab League's Central Office for the Boycott of Israel (OBI) postponed to Monday its meeting initially slated for Sunday, the Damascus-based organization announced on Sunday, October 7.
The OBI office told AFP Sunday that the meeting was pushed back because "one or two Arab delegations" had not yet arrived in Damascus. "Nineteen or twenty" members of the Arab League's 22 have confirmed their participation in the meeting, the source said. 14 Arab countries met in Damascus last month to try to bolster the boycott, but failed to reach an agreement on blacklisting foreign companies doing business with Israel.
The OBI has not had a full meeting in eight years, due to the notable absence of the heads of the boycott offices from several Arab states, including Egypt and Jordan, which have peace treaties with the Jewish state. —(AFP, Damascus)
