Recently published statistics show that Arab exports to the United States hit $28.4 billion in 2001, a four percent fall compared with 2000. American exports to the Arab World grew to $16.2 billion in 2001, a $71 million rise compared with 2000, reported Al-Hayat.
The United States purchased 585 million barrels of oil from Saudi Arabia, 285 million barrels from Iraq, 88 million barrels from Kuwait, six million barrels from the Sultanate of Oman, 5.3 million barrels from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), three million barrels from Algeria and 2.5 million barrels from Egypt in 2001.
