Businesswomen from 12 Arab states opened a regional conference in Jordan Wednesday to explore their chances for success in the business world and how to surmount challenges in the new age of technology.

The all-women meeting entitled “The Current Status of Investment and Marketing for the Arab Businesswomen in the Age of Technology”, will identify the real challenges behind the low female participation in business, pinpoint the best practices in marketing and investment and come up with realistic recommendations to overcome difficulties, organizers said.

“Our participation in the conference comes in line with our understanding of the great responsibility women shoulder in development and their significant role in building a modern state,” said Sheikha Hessah Al-Sabah, President of the Council of Arab Businesswomen (CABW).

“The stereotype picture of women’s limitations is starting to change,” she told conferees from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia, Morocco and Sudan.

The participants called for supporting public and private organizations involved in facilitating registration of small businesses run by women and providing these organizations with necessary legal, administrative and financial advisory services. The participants also called for activating the role of Arab governments to draw up plans and strategies designed to enhance human resources development in Arab communities and encourage partnership with the local community organization to secure the best use of human resources.
