ALBAWABA - Google's first developer preview for Android 15, codenamed "Vanilla Ice Cream," is now available for download. This release aims to enable content creators to better utilize the camera and provides developers with more ways to manage phone temperature and processing power for more efficient app performance.

The final release of Android 15 for all users is expected next fall. With this initial developer preview, Google stated that the focus is on enhancing user privacy and file security. Android 15 also emphasizes granting content creators greater access to camera controls, temperature management, and power management to improve app and game performance.

Android 15 utilizes the latest version of Privacy Sandbox, which works to improve privacy and security regarding mobile phone advertising by limiting access to data by third parties.

Additionally, Android 15 introduces a feature called "Notification Quieting" to reduce the volume of consecutive notifications from the same app, designed to prevent user fatigue.

Android 15 introduces "Widgets" on the lock screen, battery health percentage, and an app archiving feature through settings, allowing apps to be archived in Google Play. It also introduces a feature where any app can become the default assistant on your device but cannot use wake words like "Hey Google" in the background. Your phone will need to constantly listen to capture the specific wake word.

Moreover, it introduces a feature called "Private Space" that allows you to hide apps and data on your phone. It also allows running apps in split-screen mode, though you need to select the apps each time you launch them.

Android 15 continues to work on a set of APIs that enable high-performance games and apps to interact directly with power and thermal systems.

Using these APIs, system behavior can be monitored more effectively, leading to sustained performance levels without device overheating.

Android 15 also introduces a new API that utilizes "fs-verity," a feature to protect files with custom encryption signatures, ensuring that app functions and data are not tampered with or damaged.

Google will continue to add and improve features based on feedback from all Android 15 users. The planned beta releases for early adopters in April and May are expected to be more stable, focusing on quality and compatibility improvements.

Finally, stability-focused system releases scheduled for June, July, and August will concentrate on final testing for Android 15.
