US Anadarko Petroleum Corporation’s production levels are on target for the year as the company forecasts to reach its 2002 goal of 196 million barrels of oil equivalent. Some 17 percent of the total is expected to come from its ventures in Algeria.

Anadarko was one of the first foreign operators to sign a Production Sharing Agreement with Sonatrach over 13 years, and today it is a major contributor to Algeria's total oil production. The company started a new exploration program this year and production from the Ourhoud field is imminent in the near future in addition to the development of Block 208.

Anadarko will be participating in the Third Strategic Conference and the 5èmes Journées Scientifique & Technique (JST5) Conference during Algeria Oil and Gas Week (ALOGE) held Dec 14 – Dec 18. The Conference will be led by the Ministry of Energy and Mines and will provide the strategic forum for senior industry figures, national and international to announce and discuss new regulations, investment opportunities and developments within the Oil and Gas sector.

JST5 of Sonatrach will enable the international and national executives of the energy sector and the scientific community to discuss the latest developments and the challenges linked to technology, nurturing human resources, protecting the environment and globalization. — (menareport.com)
