The Algerian government decided to re-view the existing telecommunication and wireless communication fees for the first time in 15 years, reported Al Hayat. During the last cabinet meeting, the Algerian Post and Communication Minister, Mohammed Maghlawy, said that his ministry is preparing a number of proposals for revamping the existing fixed and wireless communication prices to be more similar to fees in neighboring countries.

Maghlawy said that the overseas telecommunication sector will be opened to private investors as of August 2003. The minister believes that the entire telecommunication and wireless communication sector will be opened to private investors by 2005. — (menareport.com)
