CEO of Algeria's National Company of Petrol Products Distribution (Naftal), Sa'id Akretche declared Saturday that his company is not fearing the upcoming competition from foreign companies in the field of distributing fuels. "Naftal future will be better with the presence of a competition that would incite us to be more competitive," according to Akretche who talked to Forum El Moudjahid on the 2008-2009 winter campaign on domestic gas distribution. To prepare for this competition, he said, ”Naftal began a large renovation operation of its network of service station” to get in accordance with international standards for safety and hygiene.

Ranging over four years since 2008, this renovation includes the upgrading of 673 stations (333 in direct management and 340 in free management).

Akretche has also indicated that Naftal will not suffer from the outcomes of the global financial crisis. He has also denied that Naftal had shown interest in opening its capital, saying: “The opening of the company’s capital has never been on the agenda of the company.”
