The African Development Bank (ADB) will organize in Tunis, a workshop on the harmonization of the views and commitments of donors and development partners, aimed at improving the effectiveness of development assistance from August 28 to 29, in collaboration with the World Bank.
The workshop is a follow-up to meetings in Rome and Addis Ababa on the harmonization process, which will make it possible to initiate the process of implementation of the Rome agenda by simplifying donor policies, procedures, and practices.
The 2003 Rome Declaration, which is based on the Report of the International Conference on financing for Development, otherwise called the Monterrey Consensus of March 2002, reaffirms the commitment of the participants to eradicate poverty, achieve sustained economic growth, and promote sustainable development.
Delegates will discuss Donors' Perspectives on the Rome Declaration and propose recommendations for both partner countries and donors. The modalities, approaches and constraints in its implementation will also be discussed.
About 50 high-ranking representatives from 25 ADB Regional Member Countries, representatives of key bilateral and multilateral donors, as well as representatives of United Nations agencies have been invited to attend the workshop. — (menareport.com)
