Italy’s wireless application service provider (WASP), Alcotel has purchased full acquisition of Dubai’s wireless information service provider, Info2cell. As a first concrete move, Acotel has linked the Info2cell.com development center in Jordan to its centers in Beirut and Rome.

Acotel's decision to enter the Middle East market for mobile messaging has been a cautious one spread out over two years since when it first acquired a 33 per cent stake in the provider. Founded in 1992, the company is a multi-media service integrator, positioned as a content aggregator, packager, value-added service provider and manufacturer of Mobile Services Platform and Mobile Network Infrastructure.

Info2cell was established in 1998 becoming the first W-ASP provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The content provision model was also revamped with the addition of many content providers and channels. — (menareport.com)
