ALBAWABA – Abu Dhabi and Dubai were ranked on the list of the top 10 cities to live in the Middle East and Africa, according to Global Liveability Index 2024.

Abu Dhabi was ranked first on the list after it improved its healthcare and education sectors, while Dubai secured second place after enhancing various sectors. According to the latest 2024 crime index statistics by Numbeo, Abu Dhabi is ranked as one of the safest cities in the world, while Dubai is ranked fifth on the same list.

Medical and educational sectors in Abu Dhabi and Dubai

According to a recent report issued by Dubai Health Authority, the city has 5,020 licensed health facilities and 13,370 licensed doctors. Abu Dhabi on the other hand has 3,323 licensed health facilities, including 67 hospitals, 1,136 health centers, 765 clinics, and 1,068 pharmacies and 12,922 licensed doctors between 2022 and 2024.

Abu Dhabi recorded a total of 459 private, government, and co-educational schools in the academic year 2023-2024, while the number of private schools in Dubai reached 220 schools.

Other GCC cities on the list

According to Global Liveability Index 2024, other GCC cities are among the top ten cities to live in including Kuwait, Doha, and Bahrain.

It is worth noting that the global index includes 173 cities and are evaluated according to stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure criteria.
